Headed South, Alaska to Canada, August 6-11th

Leaving Red Bluff bay and Baranof Island behind on our way South:

Anchored at Portage Bay and Exchange Cove on our way down to Petersburg. One note of interest - while fishing in the dinghy Pete saw our old boat Seabird go by. A few days later we saw her again in the distance & hailed her on the radio. Was nice to chat w/the new owner & see that she is still cruising around. Unfortunately she was too far for any useful photos.

Fine weather once we left Chatham Strait and the entrance to Frederick Sound, and lots of whales:

Crab dinner at Exchange Bay:

Thorne Bay. Very friendly folks and lots of recreational fishing activity just outside the Bay. Unfortunately it was raining steady when we left, so didn't spend much time fishing. Met another nice couple (Stan & Irene) from Seattle who also had a steel, gray & white boat that they built themselves. Exchanged boat tours & info as they've been cruising up this way many times.

Back in Petersburg: This time they put us at the North Dock - much louder w/lots of cannery action going on. Not very relaxing however Kona loved it. She spent the entire night in the wheelhouse watching & smelling the action.

Another stop in Ketchikan for some shopping, and dinner out:

Our neighbor at the dock:

Took a tram ride up to a lodge with a restaurant and a nice view of the harbor:

Kona is ready to go back to BC:
