Prideaux Haven, August 29-30th

At Sue's wise suggestion, we took the "back way" to our planned Desolation Sound anchorage at Prideaux Haven. This took us through Deer Passage and Pryce Channel over the North side of Redondo Island, then down Waddington Channel. 



Transiting through Pryce Channel led us right into a small group of humpback whales feeding on bait fish, with a large pod of Pacific White-Sided Dolphins swarming around them picking up the leftovers. We were joined briefly by a small tour boat, but otherwise had the show to ourselves with a front row seat. I had to move the boat a couple of times to keep from drifting right over the action.








This was our third visit to Prideaux Haven anchorage, part of  the BC Marine Parks, and it didn't disappoint. Nice weather, warm water, spectacular scenery, and a very reliable prawn fishing spot around the corner at the Mary Islands.
