Hardy Island, Sept 3rd

We overnighted at Hardy Island again to stage for the big trip up to Princess Louisa Inlet. This is a 30+ mile trek up a deep fjord with no place to anchor along the way. The entrance to the Inlet at the end of the trip up has to be timed for slack water at Malibu Rapids, which is a very narrow entrance with very fast currents and whirlpools at max ebb and flood tides. Working backwards from our slack water time at Malibu, we planned for an 0530 departure the next morning. Had an early dinner, a quiet evening, and set the alarm clock for 0500.

This is remote living. Still looks abandoned:

  1. September 21st... Good morning! Clark and Nina here on Rikki-tikki-tavi, the trimaran you see off your port side. We are from Sacramento. Built our boat too. (A bit different from yours, eh?) Sailed out The Gate May 2005. Would you like to come over for coffee this afternoon? Or perhaps wine before dinner? We'd enjoy meeting fellow boatbuilders!

  2. Hi Clark and Nina on the Rikki-Tikki-Tavi! Just pulled into Anacortes. We're here for a few days so finally going to catch up with our blog. Was great visiting with you guys. Your boat great. The craftsmanship and detail work is outstanding. Enjoy your Winter cruising break, and make sure to let us know if you pass through the Bay Area.
